First Week Highlights

Afton is officially one week old! She is a complete joy and we can't help but just stare at her all day. I call it "oogling" when Pete does it because I feel like that is the perfect descriptive word for his cooing at her and obsessing over every little face she makes. It is hard not to!

A few noteworthy things that she is doing:

The last 3 nights she has slept 3-4 hour stretches! It is amazing!

She is such a good eater! She latched on for the first time about 20 minutes after she was born and although it has been a process for both of us to figure things out, we are getting the hang of it and that girl can chug!
After a good long chugging

Afton has the cutest pouty lip and also diva face. When she first wakes up she purses her lips and arches her back just like a little diva that thinks she is the most important person in the world. I guess she is around here, so it's fitting.

Her hair is still dark and gets curly when wet. Every time I look at her I can't believe she belongs to us because she really doesn't look it! But I do know she in fact belongs to us--no mix ups at the hospital, we kept a close eye on her. Pete likes to joke that she is a Guatemala baby and has made me explain multiple times to him the timeline of when I got pregnant with Afton because it was awfully close to when we were in Guatemala last spring...

Pete's favorite thing that Afton does is her grunt. She has a hearty grunt that usually comes out right before she latches on to feed. TMI?

We couldn't be more in love with our little girl! We have enjoyed every second of our first week with her and she has just continued to wrap us around her little finger.

We aren't the only ones she has wrapped around her finger! Last night Pete's siblings came over to see her and although there were enough seats for everyone in the room they all gravitated toward her and ended up crowded on the couch so they could all look at her faces.

Shout out to Grandma Rita who has been helping us get through the first week! Afton sure is loved by so many!

  1. You are going to be a great family! She is a beautiful little girl and has Davis hair. Hope she's lucky enough for it to stay curly.

Love you all and can't wait to meet her!
