Three Blind Mice

Afton is three months, soon to be going on four! So I better get an update in real quick.

It is amazing how fast she changes. Peter and I have been trying to do more tummy time with her. She hasn't ever been much of a fan but she is getting more accustomed to it. At first she would hold her head up only when she was in a really good mood. Then she started holding it up more but only to one side. This worried me and so Pete and I talked about it a little and would try enticing her to the other side. I wrote it down as something to ask the pediatrician about at her next appointment but after a few days of frequent tummy time she started looking to the other side. And now she does it like a champ! We are working on helping her flip to her back. She has done it a couple of times in her life (the first time was when she was only a couple weeks old) but it was more of a result of how she was propped on her hands rather than actually having the muscles to do it on her own.

We have slowly put away all her newborn clothes over the last month and have officially moved into 3 mo clothing!

She is a FLIRT! She gets this bashful smile and turns her head when you talk to her. She especially does it with her dad. Although she will smile at just about anyone who looks at her directly and talks to her. Sometimes when I am working she will just stare at me and then the second I look her way she gives me a big smile. It is so fun.

She is a talker. Sometimes she gets going for a long time. Apparently she has a lot to say.

At three months she has kind of digressed in her sleeping. Just when I thought we were going to get 8-10 hour night stretches for good she up and decided that would not be a fun idea. She wakes up multiple times in the night now but will often go back to sleep if given her binky.

At 13 weeks she has started getting way too curious to eat and will hardly stay still long enough to eat for 10 minutes! This makes it tough because she wants to eat more often and I was really digging our 2-2 1/2 hour schedule. So it's a bit more complicated but we are working through it and finding out how to cover her head or go in a quiet room so she will eat better.

Afton has discovered her hands and loves to chew on them! She is getting to the point that she sticks EVERYTHING in her mouth. Yikes.
Her hair is out of control lately! It's getting longer and sticks straight up most of the time. It might would lay down if I combed it down after her baths but I can't bear to brush the curl out! It's also getting much lighter and when the sun catches it just right I could swear the roots are white blonde! It makes me sad!

The more we do outside with the warm weather lately, the more Afton sneezes. I have asked multiple doctors and done some research to determine if she could be suffering from allergies or hay fever but there is no definite answer. And since we really can't treat her I guess it doesn't matter. But yesterday (Memorial Day) her nose ran all day because we spent a lot of time outside. Luckily she doesn't seem too bothered by it.

Her eyes are blue BLUE. And we almost get more comments on that now then we do her hair. They have always been blue, like most babies, but now they are really taking on their own color of bright blue.
Afton wearing the cowgirl boots Aunt Amy Jo made for her to match her cowgirl outfit! (you can kinda see her blue eyes in these pics)

Pete is an amazing father and helps me out as often as he can. He loves spending time with Afton and I am grateful for his help. He is working hard to get his medical school applications submitted and we are excited for the adventure that awaits us.

I am still working to figure motherhood out and trying not to drive Pete crazy with my OCD-ness. I'm learning to go with the flow and to balance work and housewifery and motherhood.

Life is good. Thank goodness we have Afton to bring so much happiness to our home! We love this girly!

  2. Housewifery? I wonder how you would pronounce that, but am glad you're getting good at it -
