19 and Counting

A few things about Afton right now (at 19 ish months):

-Loves airplanes and can spot one no matter how far away or faint its sound. She also loves trains, sticks, and balls.
-Is getting into baby dolls and loves to hug and rock them but she won't play with them for more than a couple minutes. She is, however, entertained with some toys for long periods of time (like 20 min). She has played with train sets and the Light Bright for a good while totally entertained.
-Signs SO many things! Mostly animals but also things like airplanes and mountains. She will usually say the word while signing it. She learns most of these things from Signing Time which are 25-30min segments on certain topics (like the zoo, or outdoors, etc.) that we rent on DVD from the library. It is the perfect trick to keep her happy while I make dinner. She asks for them all day but I usually hold her off until I desperately need to do something hands free. :)
-Says some really funny things like "meer" (come here), "bee bee bo" (ponytail and when she wants to get up on a chair or counter...not sure why), "app ba ba" (applesauce and elephant) "hode jew" (when she wants to be picked up, I think she is saying "hold you") just to name a few. She is also CONSTANTLY saying "cereal" and "e-i-e-i-o" (meaning she wants to watch a show) which sound a lot alike but she signs cereal really well so I can tell the difference. Those are two things she wants all day long.
-Loves books and playing at the library. She loves to read books at home but when we go to the library I pick out all the books for her because she just wants to run around and play (the library does have fun toys). Asking her to sit down and read a book at the library is just too much to ask.
-Says prayers with daddy's or mom's help and sometimes she even takes the liberty to choose what to say she is thankful for.
-Is getting shy when we go new places and takes a bit of time to warm up but then she usually gets really hyper!
-Gives great hugs and kisses on demand.
-We had a rough week of sleep last week for some reason. But she is back to sleeping through the night. I keep thinking that will stop being an issue but I am afraid there will always be those things that come and go disrupting her regular routines!
-I think she might be getting ready to potty train and I am slowly preparing myself to get started in the next few months. We aren't rushing it but she tells me when she is going potty in her diaper and when she has a poopy diaper.

Now for some pictures!
So proud of herself for putting on her own headband.

A favorite pastime

This one has a story: one day I sewed Afton a dress during nap time. I needed her to try it on so I could see how much to hem. I kept asking her about every 10 min for an hour if she wanted to try it on and she kept saying "no." But finally when I asked she said "grandpa?" and I said "you want to try it on for grandpa?" she said yes. So I put it on her and went about measuring then she walked away and picked up my phone and said "grandpa?" So I asked if she wanted to take a picture for grandpa and she said "YES!" So I said "ok, go stand over there" and she proceeded to go pose herself for the picture! She LOVES her grandpas and knows who will appreciate her cuteness the most I guess :)

This is a daily occurrence. Like mother like daughter (I did this when I was her age, except I was usually naked)

Wearing a new Sunday dress from Mimi and Grandpa

Realizing she got chocolate all over her face

At the aquarium with Mimi and Grandpa

Afton likes to sit on the counter with me and put on make up while I do. This day she did a great job of putting brown eye shadow all over her face. She was quite proud of herself.
Dinner prep time (watching Signing Time) I love how she is sitting cross-legged so intent on her show.
