We would have loved to travel somewhere or do something crazy but with a toddler, a pregnant lady, and limited funds poor Pete was out of luck. We decided to do some fun things any way and ended up really enjoying the time off.
On the day of Peter's last final he wanted to eat a good breakfast. I asked what I could make and he said he was craving big, fluffy pancakes. I didn't have all the ingredients and have yet to perfect a big fluffy pancake so we decided to go out to IHOP instead. It is so fun to do out-of-the-ordinary things with Afton because I think she senses that it is special and is just so happy.
After Peter's finals we had a gift card from my parents to a steakhouse we needed to use so we dropped Afton off with Aunt Katie and Uncle Beej and headed out for a nice dinner. We enjoyed a quiet dinner without too many spills and got to eat our own food without sharing bites or backwashed drinks (usually what happens when Afton is with us). We picked up Afton only to have her run past us and upstairs with Brigham--she was having a blast and did not care one bit that we were back!
The beginning of the next week we went down to Alpine and stayed with Peter's parents just for a change of scene. Peter got to go see Interstellar, which he had been wanting to see for quite some time, and I got to go to bed early since he went with Jeffrey. The next day was Michelle's birthday and Peter and her planned to go skiing together. However, there was a HUGE snow storm that day which made the roads a bit tough. On the way there they decided to turn around and come home. A couple hours later after it cleared, they ventured out again and we able to get to Sundance for a day of incredible skiing! Peter thoroughly enjoyed himself and was so glad he got to go.
Got to make a snowman that was bigger than her! Something she hasn't done since mom is always so wimpy.
That night we celebrated Mimi's birthday at Blue Lemon and then slept over again. Peter also informed me that he made plans (behind my back) to go to Idaho to see some of my family! He knew if he asked I would just talk him out of it with all the reasons we shouldn't go, which I probably would have considering a 6-hour car ride with Afton and my pregnant belly sounded highly unappealing. But the lure of seeing family and having a little getaway sounded nice.
Scarfing down food for Mimi's birthday. We have a picture of her from last year doing just about the same thing. This girl can be serious about her food!
The trip ended up being great. Afton did awesome in the car and I really enjoyed having my family contained in a small space together. Peter and I read a funny book out loud to each other and we got to see my Grandma, Grandpa, and some of my aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Being silly with dad at Wendy's in Burley
All in all, it was a fun Spring Break. I think Peter enjoyed himself and I got spoiled having help with Afton 24/7.

Was such a great surprise to have you visit. We are so glad we got to spend some time with you. And I know Grandma enjoyed seeing you too! Afton is so much fun to be around. Come back soon!!
