Smiles!

Baby Peter started smiling the day he turned four weeks old but it was hit and miss for the most part, although Aunt Olivia could ALWAYS get a smile out of him. Now he smiles whenever you look at him and talk to him. It is so fun to see him happy since there has been a lot of grumpy times with this little guy.
The first smile caught on camera! Thanks Grandpa Sundwall!

Peter got pretty grumpy starting at two weeks old after some feedings and developed a VERY grumpy time between 7:00-11:00pm where we can hardly get him to calm down and definitely can't get him to sleep. I thought he might be a little colic but didn't think much of it. While in San Diego things got worse, which makes sense considering he was around six weeks and that is when fussiness usually peaks--plus we were out of our normal routine. With some encouragement from Pete's dad I decided to take him to the pediatrician to be seen for possible reflux. Since he never spit up and only thew up a couple times after feedings I didn't even think it was a possibility. But apparently they can have reflux without the spitting up.

So he has been on a low dose of the medication and I have seen a big difference in his happiness! He allows me to set him down a little more (although still not real often) and he seems less uncomfortable overall. He still has a fussy time in the evening but Pete and I are figuring out how to tag-team during that time which makes it more bearable.

We love this kid, despite his fussiness and we are so glad to see him happier!
Smiling at Olivia

Matchy matchy with mom! (It was unintentional. I must have just been feeling yellow that day!)
