V-day

While Pete was still recovering from surgery, Valentine's Day came around. I have never been a huge fan of the holiday but I guess it is a little more special when you are married to the person you love. Pete and I discussed how he had it pretty rough because for the rest of our lives holidays will go like this: December 17th--Anniversary, December 25th--Christmas, January 16th--My Birthday, February 14th--Valentine's Day. That is a lot of stress on a poor guy to find 4 perfect gifts in a 2-month span. Luckily, I am not too picky about gifts so we decided that for Valentine's Day we will always get something together, for each other. For example, this year's gift was a digital camera since we did not have one and we were missing opportune moments to capture things like Pete being sick and in the hospital. (For the record, Pete did send me lovely flowers at work despite our agreement. Points for him).

Pete and I also wanted to come up with some different traditions for Valentine's Day. Neither of us really like crowds so we decided to stay home and make dinner instead of going out to the crowded restaurants. We also decided to try making what we laughingly called "love potion," which was in the form of strawberry daiquiris this year.
Then we used this tablecloth we got as a wedding present to eat on. Pete and I both wrote with a sharpie on the tablecloth something we love about each other, but we don't get to read what each other wrote until next year!
We will see if our traditions stick in years to come. I guess a holiday celebrating love isn't so bad when you aren't in high school anymore. :)
