We had a very different Thanksgiving this year with the Millar side of the family. My parents decided it sounded fun to take the family away for Thanksgiving and not make a traditional meal as my mom has for so many years.
We considered Las Vegas but then decided we could have just as much fun in Park City without the long drive. So my parents put us up in a hotel right next to the outlets and we had fun shopping, eating out, seeing a movie and playing games after the kids went to bed. My brothers and their families live out of state, as well as Amy's husband, so we didn't have everyone but we still had a blast!
For Thanksgiving dinner my parents treated everyone to a fancy dinner at the Grand American Hotel and it was both delicious and fun. Peter (and all the boys I think) had the prime rib and he thought that was one of the best ways to celebrate Thanksgiving. All the girls chose the more traditional turkey plate and stuffing which I thought was amazing! And the kids had a buffet of many foods. Afton enjoyed turkey for the first time (she usually doesn't take to meat but she LOVED it that night). And then we all enjoyed the amazing dessert buffet!
It was a fun and memorable Thanksgiving doing something we had never done before. We missed spending time with the Sundwalls but made up for it by spending some time with them over the weekend.
Peter and I spoke in church the following Sunday and it was such a wonderful way to reflect on our many blessings as we moved into the Christmas season. We have so much to be grateful for!
