Here's to 4 Years

Peter and I celebrated our 4th anniversary on December 17. Back in November we went to a youth fundraiser for our ward. There was a family who was giving a 2-night stay in their St. George condo as part of a silent auction. We decided to bid the minimum since it was a good deal and I had been wanting to do something for our anniversary and to celebrate Peter being done with his first semester of Medical School. We bid on it thinking we wouldn't win but no one outbid us! So we scheduled to go down over our anniversary and have my mom keep Afton.

Later in the month Peter found out about a rural outreach program that he could do through the medical school where they pay for your to go to rural high schools and give presentations on what medical school is like and encourage the kids in the schools to pursue medicine if it is something they are interested in. Peter thought it would be great thing to do some presentations while we were down in St. George.

It was kind of a joke that he turned our anniversary trip into a medical school thing (and in a lot of ways he did) but it all worked out and was a fun thing for him to do. We got some of our expenses paid for and he enjoyed doing the presentations. We had to haul down some HUGE cow hearts for the kids to dissect and that was an adventure.

While we were in St. George we did some Christmas shopping, ate a lot of good meals at local restaurants, and got to do a session in the St. George temple! It was a nice little getaway to celebrate 4 years!
We missed Afton but knew she was in good hands between my parents and Peter's parents. She LOVES being with family and we knew she would be so happy! She was only slightly emotional and clingy for a day or so after we returned so that was nice. We have such wonderful family!
